Alexanders Nursery was established in 1979 as a wholesale
production nursery concentrating on its niche market of supplying
wholesale plants to the landscape market in South East Queensland,
particularly for the Gold Coast area. In addition to production,
Alexanders Nursery also supplies the landscape market with
quotations, and a brokerage service. This enables landscapers
to have a one stop total service.
We are situated in Coombabah which is on the northern end
of the Gold Coast.
Over the years Alexanders Nursery has prided itself in giving
our customers good reliable prompt service with the added
service of plant identification and general garden fertiliser
and disease advice to wholesale customers
Our aim has always been to present a good "clean"
nursery with an emphasis on quality. In the past two years
some experimental plantings of clumping bamboos have been
added to the buffer zone around the nursery adding to our
display area.
In October 2001 we were certified as an Accredited Nursery
having met the standards of the Nursery Industry Accreditation
Scheme of Australia (NIASA).
Our accredited business is subject to independent, twice
yearly assessments based on established quality guidelines
that emphasise improved environmentally sound production methods.
This national scheme for growers and potting mix businesses
operates in accordance with a set of "best practice"
guidelines with an emphasis on

- effective control of insects, diseases and weeds
- staff skills
- informed management decisions

Both Alex & Mirella have been active members of the Queensland
Nursery Industry both at local and state levels with Mirella
being the current Senior Vice President of the Nursery &
Garden Industry Queensland.
